Pregnant with Number Four!

Maternity jumper - Seraphine, Jeans - Mamalicious, Scarf - Matalan, Boots - Joules

Well hello there, my faithful blog readers who haven't completely abandoned hope in me ever posting again! It has been several months since the last update but I think I have a pretty good excuse. In case you didn't already know from YouTube, Instagram or anywhere else it may be floating around the internet...I am pregnant again! I'm four months along and we found out in early December (which funnily enough is exactly the same time I stopped posting!). The first trimester was pretty brutal. I was very sick from about a week after we found out until around the three month mark. As a result of that Christmas & New Year's weren't the most enjoyable and I basically just spent that time hibernating in a constant blur of nausea/fatigue. This past month has been better although I was still feeling exhausted (probably quite normal with three little ones to chase after!) but now I am finally starting to feel like myself again. Woo hoo! I've even started to organise my house which is something I had totally let slip recently and that horrible uncomfortable full feeling I would often get after eating is gone.

So how do I feel about being pregnant with number four?! Aside from the initial shock of getting pregnant so soon after Alessia (she was 8 months whereas Emilia was 10 months when I found out about Eduardo!) and the inevitable feelings of "oh my God...are we actually doing this?!?!" we were ecstatic. We always knew we either wanted two or four children. So when Alessia came along I knew for a fact that she wouldn't be my last. I also sort of made the decision early on that I wanted a small gap similar to Emilia & Eduardo's 18 month one because as much as the beginning is hard (when isn't it?!) I found the recovery, breastfeeding and adjusting to a new baby so much easier with a small gap rather than a bigger one. Having Alessia three years after Eduardo almost felt like having my first all over again. I breastfeed my babies until they're a year old so until that first year is up I'm pretty tied to them which I do love and would not change for the world...however it can be demanding and it means you don't have the freedom that you once did. But when you're already in that zone of breastfeeding, changing nappies and haven't even reached potty training stage yet, it's just part of your everyday life and you almost forget that there's light at the end of the tunnel. When Eduardo hit about two, I felt like I got my life back. All of a sudden I wasn't carrying a changing bag around with me anymore, both my children were walking and I didn't need a double stroller. It was kind of amazing! Then I got used to having that freedom and it all hit me like a tonne of bricks when Alessia came. Even in the space of three years there was a lot I had forgotten and my body did too! I found breastfeeding extremely painful just like with my first whereas my boobs never got the chance to go back to "normal" the second time round so feeding Eduardo was a dream.

All of these things just made my mind up even more that when we had another baby, I knew it was going to be pretty soon. But when you're breastfeeding your cycle is all over the place and I only had two periods (at 6 & 7 months postpartum) which were both quite irregular so when I missed my 8 month postpartum period I wasn't 100% sure whether that was due to being pregnant or not. I am still breastfeeding Alessia and she is down to two feeds a day but thankfully as she is such an amazing eater, her reliance on my milk feeds is a lot less than Emilia's was at this stage so that part hasn't been as draining for me. I still intend to feed her until the 12 month mark and although I know there's another baby coming I am prepared for that to be emotional. As much as I know she is going to be a big sister at 16 months, I'm not completely ready for her not to be my baby anymore!

In other exciting news we also found out that we are having a boy! I feel like this is the perfect addition to our family as Jonathan & I both agree that a little brother is exactly what Eduardo needs. He is feeling a bit lost lately, has been acting up and doing anything for attention even if that means getting in trouble. He is such a wonderful, sensitive and inherently good little boy that this is out of character and when we get him in alone time or even just with either of his sisters he is absolutely fine. But being in the middle of two girls, when they are altogether I think he feels like the odd one out and I hate the thought of one of my children feeling unhappy so when I saw his reaction to the new baby being a boy I cried. It was like he had finally got the win he was waiting for and I knew that this baby boy would complete our family.

I hope to post more regularly throughout this pregnancy though I can't promise anything as sometimes life does get in the way, especially now as it's busier than ever! But I do miss blogging as that's what originally sucked me into this whole online world in the first place so I promise not to completely disappear. Let me know what kind of posts you'd like to see while I navigate through my last (yes, really!) pregnancy and I hope you'll follow me on this new journey!

My Eating Disorder Story

This week is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week and as someone who struggled with bulimia for 9 years, this is a campaign which is very close to my heart and one I feel deeply passionate about. I genuinely wish that I could stop each & every person who is on the verge of developing an eating disorder from taking that step down a dark path I never want to return to but I realise that is probably impossible. However if my story can help even one person to choose self-love over a stupid diet, or recover from an eating disorder that they are already suffering with then I will have done my job.

I have spoken about this topic quite a few times on my channel before but for those of you who maybe don't know, here is a bit of background on my story. My disordered eating started around age 16 but I had already been uncomfortable and unhappy with my body image from age 12. Now as a mum (especially of two girls, though I know boys can be affected too) this terrifies me. The older I get, the smaller these numbers seem and I realise just how young I was when I first experienced that awful feeling of self-loathing, inadequacy and negativity towards my body. During my mid teens was when I started dieting to lose weight. By my late teens these unsuccessful diets had developed into full-blown bulimia. I had no idea the first time I stuck my fingers down my throat to make myself sick that this "one time occurrence" was going to take over my life for the next 9 years.

During that time period, things were very dark but it wasn't all bad. I met and married my best friend Jonathan who somehow managed to see past my "shameful secret" and loved me anyway. To this day I still don't understand how he stayed with me because believe me when I say it got really hard and bulimia ruined almost everything else in my life aside from us. Then when I was 24 I found out I was pregnant with our first baby and this was when everything changed. From a relatively young age up until this point in my life with the help of my eating disorder I had convinced myself that I was worthless, useless, disgusting, ugly & good for nothing. My self-esteem was so low and I hated myself so much but when I got that positive pregnancy test, for the first time in the whole of my adult life I actually loved something about myself. It wasn't really me who I loved, it was my baby I was carrying (who turned out to be my gorgeous Emilia) but at that point she was part of me and that was enough to send my bulimia into a dormant state until after the pregnancy was over.

Unfortunately though, my love for my baby wasn't enough to "cure" my eating disorder because as we all know, a pregnancy only lasts 9 months and once I popped Emilia out bulimia reared its ugly head once again. Luckily for me, I found out I was pregnant again at 10 months postpartum and history repeated itself. Once again I loved my baby too much to harm my body the way I normally did and I tried my best to make it the safest home for him during those next 9 months (this time it was Eduardo!). I have to say I absolutely loved being pregnant because I felt like it was the one thing after years of failures and feeling rubbish about myself that I was actually good at. It gave me a sense of purpose and I felt beautiful because I was giving life to my babies. I loved that my eating disorder seemed to leave me in peace for a while and in a way I feel like my babies saved my life.

After having Eduardo I slipped back into my old disordered habits when pressure to lose the baby weight mounted and I no longer felt like there was any part of me to love. I tried to recover on my own but failed every time, mostly because I was still clinging to the idea that I needed to be thin to be liked & accepted. Since I was 12 I had been called fat, chubby and picked apart for what I look like so without bulimia I didn't know how to exist without the crutch which I believed was the only thing keeping me thin. Yes, it did make me thinner because I was starving myself and throwing up when I over-ate. But it was also ruining my life and making me hate myself more than ever. I finally made the decision to get professional help from a psychologist and we worked for about a year and a half towards my full recovery.

During that time I did gain weight, and yes some people were cruel about it. I got called obese and I was torn apart from head to toe in any picture I posted of myself online. Whether it was fat legs, huge gut, chubby arms, you name it...I got hurled a ton of abuse when no-one even knew what I was going through. Recovery was not easy and I went through many ups & downs during my journey. There were times when it got so hard I wanted to quit. But I kept going because I knew in the back of my mind that I would rather be called fat than go back to the horrible existence of life with bulimia. So I continued with the daily struggle and slogged through it until I finally got out in one piece. To my surprise recovery didn't make me overweight, despite the stupid comments I received. My weight stabilised after I broke the starve/binge/purge cycle and I basically went back to what I was before I embarked on my first ever effort to lose weight as a teenager which taught me what a huge waste of time diets are.

I got pregnant again (with my third baby, Alessia) and experienced my first ever pregnancy without an eating disorder lurking in the background. It was a wonderful freeing feeling especially to go through postpartum without worrying about losing weight or struggling to fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans. For the first time I left it all up to my own body to do what it naturally wanted to do and it took about 8 months for it go back to normal with no dieting or exercise. Now I'm pregnant again with my fourth baby and I'm in such a completely different place to where I was six years ago. Having three babies has changed my body, some might say for the worst but I think the opposite. I have stretch marks around my bellybutton, cellulite on the backs of my thighs and people still call me fat on the daily but I could care less anymore. I'm a UK size 10, I'll never be a size 8 again and I'm okay with that because that's not how my body is supposed to look. I actually love my body a lot whether it's got a gorgeous baby inside it or not, and that is something I had to work really hard on. I do think that birthing and breastfeeding three children has given me a huge amount of confidence and respect for what my body is capable of and when I look at myself I see all of what it's been through and I'm proud.

In some ways I wish I could go back and reclaim that time in my life that I feel like I lost to an eating disorder. But then I remember that as horrible as the whole experience was, it has shaped me into who I am today and I have learned so much from my journey. Coming out the other side of recovery has made me even more passionate about helping other people who are struggling and it has also opened my eyes to how big of an epidemic this is. Before speaking about it out loud, I had no idea how many people are affected by some sort of disordered eating. Whether you are a mum like me or not, anybody can be affected by an eating disorder. If you are struggling, please know that you are not alone and if I can recover then anyone can. I hope my story has inspired at least one person if not some of you reading it.

If you'd like to know a bit more about my story (not like this post wasn't long enough!) here's a video I filmed with Cat Meffan at Glamour UK for #NEDAwarenessWeek where we both talk about our personal struggles with an eating disorder and throughout our recovery. Below are some links which helped me when I was going through my recovery journey and which I wish I had found sooner!

Alessia's 10 & 11 Month Update

Our baby girl is 11 months! Where does the time go?! I can't believe she's going to be ONE at the end of this month. I am honestly not prepared for this at all! I think what always makes me second guess this is the fact that she's still so small in comparison to my other two (not that they were huge either!). Although when Alessia was first born and for the first four months after that she was always measuring in the 0.4th centile for weight, whereas now she's moved up to the 25th! This is probably due to the amount of solids she eats (way more than the other two ever did!) but she has always been tiny even when she was inside my tummy! So I think this coupled with the fact that she is currently the baby of the family makes me think that she is younger than she actually is. But I love it, I think the more babies you have the slower you want time to go because you realise just how quickly they grow up!

Routine: At the moment Alessia's routine looks like this:

7am - Wake up & breastfeed
8am - Breakfast
9:40am - Nap
10am - Wake up
11:30/11:45am - Lunch
12:30pm - Nap
2:30pm - Snack
5pm - Dinner
6pm - Bathtime
6:30pm - Breastfeed & bed

Sleeping: Alessia sleeps for about 15-20 mins in the morning...she had been sleeping for half an hour up until recently when I noticed she wasn't going down for her lunchtime nap as well anymore so I've started to cut down. She then sleeps for about 2 hours in the afternoon and is normally fast asleep by 7pm until 7am. She is currently sleeping through the night the vast majority of the time, although we do have the odd waking when she's teething or if she wakes up for some reason but thankfully it is very rare!

Eating: Alessia still loves her food but has calmed down a bit on the portion size of her breakfast (remember how she used to eat a whole small child's portion of Ready Brek?!). She loves porridge, Weetabix or eggs & toast in the morning, she normally has some sort of leftovers from dinner for lunch followed by fruit and has a small snack in the afternoon. Her absolute favourite snack food is those carrot cake bars by Organix. For dinner she has whatever we are eating, just mashed up a little bit more and to drink she only has water other than when she breastfeeds. She has got much better at drinking water ever since we switched to the Munchkin 360 cup! This was a real life-saver because before that she refused to take a sippy cup or beaker. After dinner she usually gets something sweet like fruit & a baby biscuit (or two...she loves these especially the Ella's Kitchen vanilla & banana ones!). Fortunately she is not a picky eater at all at the moment but I do struggle to get her to feed herself certain things like fruit and raw veggies. She will feed herself dry foods but she's not a big fan of getting her hands wet or messy so she does prefer to be spoonfed! She is basically the complete opposite to how Emilia was as a baby!

Milestones

Alessia has seven teeth and it looks like she's teething again. I think she might be getting another one but I'm not sure.
- She finally said "mama" at 10 months! She said "dada" first, I think this was around 9 months and that slowly led to "baba", "wawa" and finally after lots of prompting and coaxing "mama". I love it! Especially now as she recognises that this means me whereas "dada" means her dad. She can also say brother which sounds like "bruvva" and has said "uh-oh" though I've never been able to catch it on camera! She attempts to say bye-bye, night night and make animal sounds but they all sort of sound like the same thing at the moment!
- She bum shuffles, backwards crawls and has taken one or two forward crawls before getting fed up, hahaha! She definitely still loves to be held & on my hip all the time and I'm totally fine with that as I want to prolong the baby stage for as long as possible!
- She's pulled herself up to sitting from lying down on her tummy, which is proving quite difficult at bedtime as she is a tummy sleeper so she has started to sit up in bed and play with her toys which is a bit...distracting.
- This isn't a milestone really but I've noticed her doing something for comfort when she goes to sleep which I think is SO sweet! She has a little mouse musical toy which attaches to a pink star and hangs off her cot (all three of my kids had one with a different animal on). When I put her down I always pull the mouse so that the music plays and I've recently realised that she has been pulling the little mouse close to her face and sucking on its tail! (It's a soft toy by the way.) None of my other children did this but I just think it's the cutest thing ever!

Bumping Along

It has been such a long time since my last blog post but I'm not even going to get into the excuses because these days it feels like this is how all of my posts start off! One day, maybe when I stop having babies I promise to be more regular again. The main difference you can probably see here compared to my last outfit of the day post is that the bump is considerably bigger! I am currently 23 weeks pregnant with baby #4 and thankfully I'm feeling great. The second trimester has been kind to me and I am so grateful that these have been a relatively easy few weeks so far. Luckily our Caribbean cruise & trip to Jamaica was planned for the 20 week mark so I felt good and the nausea was pretty much gone. I even brought sea bands with me but didn't need to use them!

The only thing I can complain about (along with most people in England I would think) is the lack of sunshine this spring. This time last year we were experiencing a heatwave, whereas here I am this April still wearing boots and needing a scarf & coat when I go out. It has been a bit depressing, especially with Eduardo's birthday party coming up this weekend. Sadly I think the Winnie the Pooh themed festivities will have to be kept indoors :( We also celebrated Alessia's 1st birthday on Easter Sunday with close family and it was so cute! I posted a lot of photos on Instagram if you're curious to see how that turned out.

So here I am rocking a bump in some autumn/winter attire because it's too cold for anything else and I'll admit I'm getting so bored of wearing the same thing over & over! The best thing about being pregnant in the spring/summer is having an excuse to live in maxi dresses and flip flops which I fully embraced whilst we were on holiday three weeks ago! Hopefully I'll be able to dig the summer wardrobe out again soon. I'm wearing a Free People top which I love but wish was a bit longer (to cover the bump), an Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan, maternity trousers in dark green from Next which are a size smaller than what I normally am (I'm going to need to switch these out soon!) and my Toms boots. I am on the hunt for a pair of khaki or army green skinnies which are maternity but don't break the bank as this is my last pregnancy...so let me know if you can recommend any!

I think she has pretty good photography skills for a five year old!

Spring is finally in the air and the weather is getting nicer! I'm excited but it also makes me realise how close we are to baby boy's arrival as he is due this summer! In a way I think this is the fastest pregnancy, probably because of how busy we are and with Alessia still being so small it makes each month go quicker. I am so preoccupied with all the growing and changing she has been doing that I sometimes forget I'm even pregnant at all!

Today's video is a 23 and 24 week pregnancy vlog as I just turned 24 weeks today. I talk about my most recent symptoms (heartburn & pressure "down there") as well as showing the belly! Hope you enjoy :)

Eduardo's 4th Birthday

Two weeks ago we celebrated Eduardo turning four by throwing him a Winnie the Pooh party! He has loved Winnie since the time Jonathan bought him a little stuffed one from Morrison's when he was feeling ill (I actually don't even remember the specifics of why he was unwell or when this was but he still talks about it!). And so the Winnie the Pooh birthday party theme was born, but believe me it took a long time for me to come up with something! Eduardo tends to go with the flow when it comes to what toys he plays with or what he's into and that flow is generally led by Emilia. He is slowly starting to find his way and develop his own tastes as he grows into his personality and gets older but because they are so close in age I think he has just always loved to copy his older sister!

So we were really pleased to celebrate in a way that Eduardo could recognise as his own and this theme fitted perfectly. As soon as he stepped into his 100 Acre Wood wonderland, he was over the moon! We also had donkey rides on Eeyore (despite the rainy weather), a bee themed treat tree (Alessia's personal favourite), a craft table, Rabbit's house, Roo's sandpit, a Heffalump trap and much more!

What I Ate Wednesday {18.4.18}

It's been a long time since I posted a What I Ate Wednesday but I know you guys miss them and I always get requests to bring them back so here you are! This was actually from two weeks ago when we were experiencing that heatwave (which is now long gone...sob).

Breakfast
For breakfast I had two boiled eggs and a slice of wholegrain toast with butter, a black coffee and bottle of water. Jonathan and I have since switched to re-usable bottles and a water filter but this was right before then...just wanted to add that in as I know the environmentalists will be on my case!

Lunch
Between breakfast & lunch we took all six dogs for a walk together and by the time I got home I was starving! I had a ham & cheese sandwich (yes, this is the same exact bread I had for breakfast..haha!) with sticky pickle on the inside and toasted with a drizzle of olive oil on the outside. This makes it nice and crispy! I also had some pickles & cherry tomatoes as well as another bottle of water.

Snack
Later that afternoon I had a snack of carrot sticks & hummus. This was right before we had to take one of our dogs, Nivea to the vet as she got a tick :( She is fine now by the way!

After getting home from the vet's I made myself a coffee using almond milk (the barista blend by Blue Diamond), an aeroccino frother and our Nespresso machine.

Dinner
Wednesday nights are date night and we ended up going to Bill's where I got my usual! This is the halloumi burger which comes with sweet chilli sauce, roasted peppers, red onions and hummus. I get mine with sweet potato fries and it comes with a garlic mayo dip. This is the best thing on the menu in my opinion! To drink I had water (super boring, I know).

Dessert
You can't end date night without getting dessert...that's just the rules! Jonathan and I both got the cinnamon donuts which are so delicious! They come with strawberries, caramel & chocolate dipping sauce (the caramel one is the best). We are both obsessed with this dessert and even though I always promise myself I'll try something new I end up going with this one every time!

That was everything I ate today! Hope you enjoyed this post and be sure to check out the video above!

My Baby Routine

$

0

(I'd just like to state for the record that is not a giant dog poo in the corner of these pictures...it's moss that's fallen down from our roof...hahaha! Also this outfit is from a few weeks ago, before the heatwave and the bump got massive!)

How did I get my babies into a routine and how do I get them to sleep through the night? That is the million dollar question I seem to get asked over & over again so I thought I'd address this all in one place so it's easy for you all to find! I'm no sleep training expert by any means but I am a mum of three, soon to be four and I have experienced the dreaded "2 under 2" situation which I'll soon have to deal with all over again! So I like to think that puts me in a pretty knowledgable position when it comes to babies and getting them into routines. I've had a lot of success with getting each of my breastfeeding babies into a routine and all three were completely sleeping through the night from about 8-10 months, that's if you count the "dream feed" which I'll explain later.

So how did I do it? I can tell you right now that it was not plain sailing by any means and it did require effort, discipline and perseverance but in the end it was totally worth it. I completely attribute getting our babies into a routine to me keeping my sanity, especially whilst surviving two under two. When I had Emilia (my first baby) in 2012 I picked up this book, The New Contented Little Baby Book by Gina Ford. In it is a strict schedule which include timed feedings & naps according to the age of your baby. When we had Emilia, my husband Jonathan & I weren't on a typical schedule anyway. We worked from home so we didn't have to be up for any particular time...we were quite relaxed and used to just doing what we wanted when we wanted to. Luckily for us Emilia was a very chilled out, easy baby and I breastfed & co-slept with her until she was 8 months old. This is totally against the "rules" of the book, but it's what worked for us at the time and that is fine! At that point, we didn't really need structure or routine as much because we just had one child, flexible jobs and it was working for us.

The one thing I did take from the book though was that a baby of about 6-12 months needs no more than around 2-2 and 1/2 hours of daytime sleep (that is a HUGE generalisation by the way, please refer to the book for accurate timings according to the age of your baby!) and that was the one thing I implemented with Emilia from about the time she started solids. This seemed to work well and little by little she transitioned into her own cot (I started her on daytime naps until she got used to it) and by 8 months she was sleeping in her own cot...by 10 months she was sleeping through the night. What I'm trying to say here is, if a strict routine doesn't work for you that's okay. You can pick & choose elements you like from the book and use them to fit into your lifestyle which is exactly what we did with Emilia.

By the time we had our second baby Eduardo, Emilia was 18 months old and I just knew that with two under two a routine was going to be crucial. So I was a lot more strict and followed the Gina Ford method to a tee from much earlier on. Some of the timings were probably a little different...for example instead of waking up at 7am and going to sleep at 7pm it was more like 8-8 but we made it work and by 6 months Eduardo was sleeping in his cot in the nursery. What really helped me run this routine like clockwork was the fact that using this system meant the two of them went down for their afternoon nap at the same time everyday. For any sleep deprived mama, this is an absolute god-send. Knowing you have those two hours free to catch up on work, laundry, cleaning, or better yet SLEEP!! That was 100% worth it to me. I can't remember exactly when Eduardo started sleeping through the night but I am pretty sure it was around the 9-10 month mark.

When I had my third baby Alessia, Emilia and Eduardo were four and three so they had since grown out of naps. However I knew the benefits of getting into a routine quickly and having a strict sleep schedule so I started her off the same way I did Eduardo. Like with all my babies though, I did what felt right to me. Although the Contented Little Baby Book routines start at two weeks, I felt that was a bit too young so I pushed it out by a few more weeks. By the time Alessia was three months we were in a schedule but prior to that her feedings/sleeping times were a little sporadic. The other thing I never paid much attention were the feeding times, especially in the first six months. As all my babies were 100% breastfed, I would just feed them on demand and whenever they were hungry. The only thing I stuck to rigidly were the sleep times and this is what I believe helped get them all sleeping through the night at quite a young age.

As with Eduardo, Alessia transitioned to her own cot at 6 months and by 9-10 months was sleeping through. Before this happened though, the book encouraged a 10/10:30pm "dreamfeed" which is where you wake the baby for a top-up feed right before you go off to bed. This ensures they do not wake again until morning and you can get a much better night's sleep as a result. I did this with both Eduardo and Alessia and I can tell you it made things a whole lot easier!

I know a baby routine is not for everyone and that is completely understandable! I don't think every mum operates the same way, nor do they need the same things. But for me, I thrive on having some sort of structure in my life and I think the more our family grows, the more necessary a routine becomes. It just helps everything run smoother and it suits our current lifestyle. However like I said with Emilia when we only had one and were a lot more flexible, it just wasn't for us and that is fine too! I hope this blog post helped...to watch the full video on how I put my babies into a routine you can hit play below. Let me know if you have been successful with putting your babies in a routine in the comments! I know I intend on using the same method with baby number four, especially as I'm going to have such a small gap again this time!

What I Ate Wednesday {2.5.18}

Breakfast
Here's a look at what I ate last Wednesday! For breakfast I had natural yoghurt with mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries & raspberries) buried under granola! This is the yummiest breakfast for when the weather gets hot and I'm craving something fresh. I also had a black coffee & drank my water. My water bottle is from HydrateM8 by the way! I get so many questions about it and I actually bought one for Jonathan as well because they are so easy to use and remind you to drink throughout the day!

Lunch
For lunch I had a crab wrap which I've shown how to make in a vlog before but basically it's just crab meat (the white stuff, I'm not a fan of the brown one!), mayonnaise and a boiled egg. It's seriously my favourite wrap at the moment...in fact, anything with hard boiled eggs makes me happy lately! I also had some cherry tomatoes & cucumber and drank my water.

After lunch I was craving something sweet so I grabbed this apple & cinnamon Frusli bar. I recently started buying these and they really remind me of my childhood! My mum used to put Frusli bars in our lunchboxes when we were growing up and I don't think I had had one since then! I mostly like them because they're chewy, I can't stand hard granola bars!

Afternoon Snack
A few hours later I was hungry again so I made myself a latte/cappuccino (I think this is more of a latte to be honest...I use the largest milk setting on my aeroccino!) with whole milk which has really been helping with my heartburn. I also had a handful of walnuts because I have to keep reminding myself to eat nuts...I just always forget about them and eat fruit instead!

Dinner
Wednesdays are usually date night but I was feeling really unwell last week as I caught a cold from the kids and as I'm pregnant I couldn't take anything for it :( So I powered through but by the end of the day I was feeling pretty rotten. We decided to stay in and get a takeaway instead of going out to eat and got curries from Giggling Squid, our favourite Thai restaurant. I got red Thai chicken curry with brown rice and it was just what I needed!

Dessert
You know there's no way I would skip dessert (have you read my bio?!) so after dinner I had a bowl of ice-cream. This is my current absolute favourite flavour/brand ever, it's Crema di Grom which is an Italian vanilla ice-cream with bits of biscuit inside...I am obsessed! I even made it fancy for date night with these two hazelnut wafers, hahaha!

To drink all day I had water...I probably filled that bottle about three times which is a lot more than what I was drinking before! I hope you enjoyed this week's What I Ate, feel free to watch the video from today below. And let me know if you try this ice-cream...it is honestly the best!

Today's video is a try-on fashion haul where I show you some maternity, non-maternity and breastfeeding friendly pieces I picked up in the ASOS sale. I decided to do a try-on haul because this gives you a better idea of how everything looks like on, although please do bear in mind that my filming set-up isn't ideal at the moment! When we eventually do move house I will hopefully have a better set-up but for now we're working with natural light and a rather cramped filming space in between my bed and vanity table!

This outfit features look number one, which is one of my favourites for casual wear...I have been living in this jumper and was so happy that it went on sale as it was quite pricey! But Wildfox do make amazing quality items and they last forever, wash really well and just get softer with age. Below I will link the rest of the pieces I got if you want to pick them up for yourself! Although I did end up returning the wide leg trousers...they just weren't my style!!

Breakfast
Today's breakfast was quite boring but it's something I reach for when I'm feeling lazy and couldn't be bothered cooking anything! I had Weetabix with almond milk (I fill the bowl with milk and put it in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds) topped with chopped banana & blueberries. I also had my coffee (black in the mornings) and water!

Lunch
Lunch was a caprese salad with mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, black olives, basil, olive oil and balsamic glaze on top. Today was quite hot so a fresh salad sounded good...though I also added a slice of bread because mama needs her carbs!!

Snack
After lunch I was still a bit hungry so I had some chopped fresh strawberries with natural yoghurt on top. I ate this outside and it felt so summery! I also drank my water.

Afternoon Coffee
Later that afternoon I made myself a whole milk cappuccino/latte/frothy coffee. I think I've mentioned this before but the whole milk really does help with my heartburn!

Dinner
Dinner wasn't anything exciting as I had planned to make shepherd's pie but Jonathan was feeling really unwell, it was very hot and we had plenty of leftovers! So I had leftover chicken korma with rice, peas, mushrooms & onions which was our meal last Sunday. Jonathan had a veggie burger wrap and the kids ate leftover veggie burgers & sweet potato fries from the day before! To drink I just had water.

Dessert
After dinner I had one of these amazing Oreo stick ice-creams which I am obsessed with! The shell of the ice-cream is what gets me...I swear they put some kind of addictive stuff in here because it makes me crazy! The only downside is you only get three of these ice-cream sticks in a pack :( So I need to get more as I've eaten one everyday this week...hahaha! If you haven't tried these, you should. They are even better than Oreos!

27 Weeks Pregnant & How I "Do It All"

$

Sorry this blog post is a day late but yesterday was a bit mental! We had meetings all morning & a filming session for an Irish TV show in the afternoon...this was on top of all the editing and filming I usually do on a daily basis and unfortunately the lovely girl who normally looks after Alessia for me when I'm working was sick so it was "bring your baby to work day" and we all know how those go! (Not very well...I can tell you right now!) Still we somehow managed to hustle and get everything done that we needed to but my blog will always be last on the priority list, hahaha...sorry!! My poor old blog!

This all got me thinking about a question I get asked countless times in interviews or press that we do and even from some of you: how do you do it all?? The answer is very simple...I don't! I never want any of you fellow mums out there reading this to think for one minute that I do...there is no way that it would be possible. I have three small children, six dogs, a full-time job and I'm pregnant. I am very fortunate to have the ability to work from home but that can sometimes be both a blessing and a curse because the lines get very blurred. Vlogging/blogging, social media and working with brands is my full-time job and although it's not as traditional as perhaps a doctor or a teacher, in order to make a decent living from any profession you need to put in full-time hours.

So when people call me "supermum" or tell me they're amazed at how I manage to keep it all together I just have to laugh...I am no supermum, there are plenty of single mums working two jobs that deserve that title a whole lot more than me. Or the mums dealing with children with learning difficulties or physical disabilities...that's a superwoman in my mind. The stay at home mums who sacrificed their careers to look after their children full-time, or the working mums who are made feel guilty every single day for the time they spend apart from their kids but have no choice as they need to put food on the table. No matter what your situation is, we are all hustling and we're all just trying to do the best job we can do as mothers.

None of us have it all together, even if it might look that way on social media or from the outside looking in. I would be lying if I said that I could accomplish everything I need to in one day with zero help...trust me when I say that there is a whole lot of blood sweat and tears that goes into running a business together with your partner while raising a family and it really does take a village! I have help with my house, I have childcare on the days I work full-time, I have someone who walks my dogs three times a week. Jonathan and I also share a PA who looks after all of the admin involved (which is a whole lot more than you would think!) and we have a whole management team. This isn't a one-woman show, or a one-man show either for that matter, so don't ever think that it is!

Of course Jonathan & I both pride ourselves in being very hands-on, both with our children and our business but there is absolutely NO WAY that we would get our jobs done without some kind of assistance. I also know that by writing this blog post I'm probably going to get the usual judgement from a few little trolls...but I'm used to it and I'd rather that than any of you feeling bad about yourselves. I get the "lazy mother" card thrown at me allll the time for having help (especially when it comes to childcare) but the fact remains that I work my bum off every single day for the job that I have, I know what it's like to have nothing and I don't take anything for granted. I love my children more than anything but I'm also not wiling to give up my career. I take a break from a lot of work commitments during the first 12 months of each of my babies' lives because I breastfeed exclusively and that's important to me. But that doesn't make me better than anybody else!

The main thing I want you to take away from this post is never to glamourise anyone or think they're "doing it all" because honestly there is no such thing, and at the end of the day we are all just trying to do our best. Also remember that no matter how much you think you see of people's lives on social media, it's always just a small portion and there is so much else going on behind the scenes that doesn't get shown! Nobody's life is perfect and even if you think somebody has it all together I can guarantee that she/he is struggling just as much as anybody else. I hope that doesn't sound preachy because that is not my intention at all. I just know how easy it is to feel rubbish about yourself due to social media, all because you're looking at the highlight reel of somebody else's life.

This is why honesty has always been so important to me and on that note, here is another very honest pregnancy update! Where I talk about my symptoms at 27 weeks, the dreaded weight gain & feelings that go along with that, as well as a look at how much the bump has grown since last week! Hope you enjoy the video & are having a wonderful weekend!

How beautiful is our wisteria right now?! I am obsessed with the colour and how it looks in bloom...this was one of the first things I noticed and loved about our house when we viewed it a little over four years ago! It has also really inspired me to plant some and replicate the same look on our new house when we (eventually, finally) move in!

Today's video was all about my spring favourites which included beauty, skincare, hair, a little fashion and of course the best part, food. Below I have linked all of the products/items mentioned. Hope you enjoy the video!

Breakfast
Today I made scrambled eggs on toast for Alessia which always makes me crave it for myself! I make mine with two eggs, almond milk, salt & pepper. I put it on slice of wholegrain seeded toast with butter and I also had a black coffee & water.

Lunch
I had an OB appointment in London so after that we went for lunch at Natural Kitchen which is our favourite spot! I always get the same thing, it's the falafel salad with hummus, tzatziki, mixed leaves & couscous. This is so good and filling! I also got the Cleanse smoothie but it wasn't as good as the Green Machine one I normally get. This one is a healthier version with ginger, cucumber and kale but it's very watered down and not as sweet as the other one! I also took my bottle of water with me and drank that pretty much all day.

Afternoon Snack/Coffee
When we got home I was exhausted and made myself a frothy coffee using the Almond Breeze barista milk and had it with a blueberry frusli bar. I actually featured these in my favourites because I love them so much!

Dinner
For dinner we had prawn curry with leeks, red peppers, onions, coconut cream and brown rice. This is one of our family's favourite go-to meals! The only difference was I used brown instead of white rice as I'm trying to do more wholegrains. It took a lot longer to cook but it was really yummy and the kids didn't complain!

Dessert
After dinner I had an Oreo ice-cream stick (these are to die-for). Much later in the evening I also had a dark chocolate spelt cookie and about four of those hazelnut & cocoa wafer rolls I normally put in a bowl of ice-cream...I wasn't even particularly hungry but was stressing about a stupid lost library book! Looking back I felt kind of stupid for getting so stressed out but pregnancy hormones will do that to you! To drink I just had lots of water. I ended up filling my water bottle up about three times which is the norm for me.

And that's everything for this week's What I Ate! You can watch my video from today above. Let me know if you ever get stressed about stupid things...hahaha! I definitely do!

Today's pregnancy vlog features Alessia who I'm sure you'll agree was a really cute addition! She was actually very well-behaved considering she's been teething and as a result has been even more clingy than usual. The outfit is a mixture of maternity and non-maternity items...I'm making the most of my looser blouses and shirts while I still can and before the bump gets too big!

Hope you enjoy my 28 week update! I can't believe I'm already in the third trimester...eek! This pregnancy has gone so fast.

What I Ate Wednesday {26.5.18}

Breakfast
This WIAW is from right before we went on holidays so I was trying to use up all the bread we had in the house before we left! My breakfast was the same two days in a row; a wholewheat muffin with peanut butter, banana and chia seeds, a black coffee and water!

Mid-morning Snack
We decided to head to Bluewater which takes about 30-40 minutes and on the way I had packed a snack of this Apple & Cinnamon Frusli bar!

Lunch
We ate lunch at Nando's and I got a grilled chicken wrap with a side of sweet potato wedges. I can't remember the last time we ate Nando's and this was delicious! To drink I just had the usual...water!

Dessert
This is a once a year kind of treat...but Lola's Cupcakes do the most incredible cupcake milkshakes where they basically blend a whole entire cupcake up with a load of cream and it is the most amazing thing in the entire world! I have only ever had these with my mum and my sister Erika as Emilia was always too little but this time we had our first mummy daughter cupcake shake date! She was SO excited and it was the cutest thing! I got my favourite, red velvet and Emilia got a "chocolate heaven" with gold glitter on top. She had about a quarter of it before giving up, lol. I don't know is it because I'm 30 now or am I just not used to them anymore but I used to be able to put this away fairly easily whereas this time I was DEAD after! The cupcake shake has defeated me!! It was incredible but I paid for it afterwards...I felt like I was going to explode!

Dinner
Sorry this photo is a sloppy mess, I'm definitely no food blogger that's for sure! (We need smaller bowls I think...hahaha!) For dinner we had gnocchi with a garlic, tomato & basil sauce. This was just a really easy, lazy weekend meal that was quick to whip up after we got home from Bluewater. Add parmesan cheese on top and it's done!

Evening Snack
After the kids went to bed I was somehow hungry again (don't even ask me why!) and had a bowl of mini wheats with almond milk & cane sugar. Oddly enough I had been craving mini wheats all day since Alessia had them for her breakfast! To drink I had more water.

And that's it for today! Check out the video here:

I recently had a bit of a chop and took my hair up to about mid-length! I'm not quite ready to do shoulder length yet but I think this is a happy medium...literally! I also got the thinning scissors through it which is something I always do as my hair is so thick and can get very heavy if I don't do this! We didn't touch the colour this time (I get balayage done) and my hairdresser Alex styled it using a GHD. I wish I could get my curls to look this good when I do them myself! I'm always so sad when I have to wash out all of her amazing work!

This is actually a different outfit to the one I wore in today's video as that one was nothing new that you hadn't already seen on here whereas this featured some new pieces. Details are below!

What I Ate Wednesday {30.5.18}

Today's what I ate post is from our third day in Sardinia. I am debating on whether or not to change these blog posts and start phasing out the food pictures as they are rather repetitive. So instead of that I think I will do outfit of the day pictures instead, as that is what my blog is most known for. Let me know your thoughts on this...I am not stopping the What I Ate Wednesday videos, I just don't want to put up any redundant content. I did take some photos whilst on holiday which you can see below, so I've included them here but next week's post will probably just be an outfit one!

Breakfast
Okay a little story/confession about the All-Bran as I featured it on my instastories and got quite a few questions about it! I ate this literally every single day when on holiday and I'll tell you why. Whenever I travel, I get constipated...not that bad but it's definitely worse when I'm pregnant! So this stuff reeeeally helps keep me regular! And actually I really like the taste, I know some people don't! I had mine with almond milk, sultanas & a few walnuts. I also drank a black coffee & water.

Lunch
For lunch I had different things everyday but this time I got a Caprese salad with mozzarella, tomatoes, olive oil and fresh basil. To drink I had water.

Snack
Later that afternoon I got hungry again (I also did a pregnancy workout!) and had brought these Frusli bars from home. Before setting off I had packed two snack bags for the kids & anyone else who needed them...most of them got eaten but there were a few left so I had this apple & sultana bar along with half a bag of mixed nuts from our mini bar in our room! I try to drink lots of water when on holiday so I drank that pretty much all day.

We ate dinner quite late that evening and it was in a restaurant called Belvedere which was one of the fancier ones in the resort. To start they brought a stuffed zucchini flower with ricotta inside...these are amazing! I was really proud of Emilia & Eduardo for trying theirs even though they didn't love it...I try to get them to try everything at least once. If they don't like it that's fine, but they need to try first!

For my main course I ordered pappardelle with seafood and a pesto sauce, I honestly could not remember what fish was in this but I'm assuming there were prawns in there judging by our little friend on the side, haha! This was really good...though I was starving by the time it came as they left so long in between courses!

Dessert (not pictured)
For dessert we went to a pasticceria & ice-cream place and I got a cone of my favourite flavour which has always been pistacchio. The ice-cream in Italy is soooo good I think I ate this almost every single night!
